Staff evacuated following incident at Stryker; investigation underway

Crews from Cork County Council’s Midleton and Cobh Fire Brigades responded to an incident at a Stryker plant in East Cork this morning.
A spokesperson for Cork County Council told
that an emergency call was received for a fire in a plant unit on the roof at Stryker’s plant in Tullagreen in the IDA Industrial Estate in Carrigtwohill at 9.25am.“The building was evacuated and there are no reports of injuries,” the spokesperson said.

Gardaí also attended following the incident. It is understood emergency services have since left the scene.
The Health and Safety Authority (HSA) said it is aware of the incident and has launched an investigation.
The incident this morning comes a week after two men were injured, one critically, in a separate workplace incident at Stryker's Anngrove plant nearby.
In relation to today's incident, a Stryker spokesperson said:
“This morning there was an evacuation at our Tullagreen facility in response to the activation of a fire alarm.
“Out of an abundance of caution, the local authorities are conducting further investigations and we have sent employees home for the remainder of their shift.
“We’re committed to a safe and healthy work environment at all of our facilities."
