A status orange thunderstorm warning remains in place for Ireland overnight.

Met Éireann has said that thunderstorm activity is expected.

"Due to the sporadic nature of development, not all areas will be affected. Heavy downpours of rain and hail will occur in places," the forecaster said.

It is also possible that places may experience flooding where heavy downpours occur.

The warning remains in place until 9am on Monday morning.
