Man scammed out of almost €20k in Bitcoin fraud

Gardai in Cork are investigating a scam in which a man was defrauded of almost €20,000.

A CORKMAN has lost almost €20,000 after investing in what he believed was Bitcoin.

The incident is under investigation by gardaí in Cork city and was reported this month.

The investment was made over a number of transactions since the start of last year.

Gardai are warning people to be wary when investing in online cryptocurrency opportunities.

They advise people to always seek independent financial and legal advice before making any investments and heed this advice.
