PASSENGERS in Cork will have even more options available when it comes to travelling to the UK this winter, with the launch of a new route from Cork to Luton.

Ryanair announced the new route, which will have a six times weekly service, as part of its Winter 2018 schedule.

This is in addition to Ryanair’s existing schedule of flights to London Stansted.

Cork passengers can also choose to fly to London Heathrow, with Aer Lingus.

“Ryanair is pleased to announce a new Cork route to London Luton which will operate six times weekly,” Ryanair’s Robin Kiely said.

“Customers can now choose from a total number of 10 winter routes to exciting destinations such as Barcelona Reus, Bordeaux, Faro and Gdansk.”

They are running a seat sale to celebrate the launch, with deals available for flights throughout the winter.

“To celebrate we are releasing seats for sale from €14.99, which are available for booking until midnight Monday August 27, for travel from September to January,” Mr Kiely said.

“Since these amazing low fares will be snapped up quickly, customers should log onto www.ryanair.com and avoid missing out.”

Managing Director of Cork Airport, Niall MacCarthy, welcomed the announcement and said: “We encourage passengers across the South of Ireland to use the new service.”

Meanwhile, Ryanair has announced it is to charge people to bring small luggage on board its flights.

The airline said that from November, travellers will be charged between €6 and €10 to bring a large bag with them onto the aircraft.

The new measures mean that people who buy a standard Ryanair fare will be allowed to bring on one “small personal bag”.

Those who want to bring a larger cabin bag will now have to pay. Only customers who buy upgraded tickets will be allowed to bring the bags on free of charge.
