Man arrested and charged for burglaries in the English Market

Three burglaries occurred in the English Market yesterday.

Gardaí have arrested and charged a man in his 30s in relation to a number of incidents of burglary, theft from a vehicle, criminal damage and possession of drugs in Cork City yesterday.

Shortly after 7am, Gardaí from Anglesea Street on high visibility patrol received a report of three burglaries that had just occurred in the English Market, Prince St. 

Upon arrival at the scene they arrested a man in his 30s who was also found to be in possession of €460 worth of controlled drugs (pending analysis). 

Following preliminary investigations by Gardaí it was discovered that there were also two incidents of criminal damage and one theft from a vehicle in the vicinity a short time earlier.

The man was detained at Bridewell Garda Station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984 and has since been charged to appear before Cork City District Court this morning.
