Independent Coffee Guide have revealed the best places to get coffee in Ireland and eight Cork coffee shops feature on the list.
Over 100 different coffee shops are set to feature in the latest guide and they’ve mentioned some of Cork’s independent cafés as the best in the country.
First of the Cork coffee shops to feature is Cork Coffee Roasters, located on Bridge Street and again on French Church Street, which the guide said that“small but mighty is the best description of this iconic Cork cafe”.
Duke’s Coffee makes the list twice with its café on Carey’s Lane and again at City Gate in Mahon. Independent Coffee Guide described Duke’s City Gate branch as a perfect café for those working in the nearby offices wanting a break.
“With bags of space and a first-floor co-working area, it’s also a favourite with visiting coffee geeks and those in need of a little time out of the office.”
Filter Espresso and Brew Bar on George’s Quay was added to this year’s list and received praise for the wide variety of coffee beans that coffee-addicts can choose from when ordering a brew. It was labelled as a haven for those seeking to try a new caffeinated experience.
The Independent Coffee Guide said: “Filter founder Eoin Mac Carthy has created a haven for intrepid and experimental coffee followers.”
Those heading to Kent Station and in need of a pick-me-up along the way will be well aware of Lab 82 Coffee. It seems that the Independent Coffee Guide are too, including them in the new guide.
Their variety of filters from around the globe and brunch menu is what swayed the guide to include them in the latest list of Ireland’s best independent coffee shops.
Putting “coffee front and centre”, Soma Coffee Company on Tuckey Street made the list of Ireland’s best independent coffee shops. After making the move to roast their own coffee last year, Soma gives customers a chance to watch coffee being roasted in store, creating a unique experience.
Rounding out the list of Cork's coffee shops were The Bookshelf Coffee House on Pembroke Street, who were accoladed for their brunch menu, followed by Three Fools Coffee on Grande Parade, receiving praise for its transparency and their speciality coffees.
