An Post are looking at ways to assist the people of Midleton to collect welfare payments and access postal services, according to local TD Pat Buckley.
The emergency measures are needed after the post office in the town was seriously damaged in a fire that broke out in the early hours of the morning.

Appliances from Midleton and Cobh rushed to the scene on Main Street after the fire was reported at approximately 1.30am.
Gardaí provided support and traffic diversions were put in place while firefighters battled the blaze, which is understood to be in the post office building.
AA Roadwatch reported that Main St (R907) was closed to traffic heading north through the town to early commuters, as emergency services continued to deal with the situation, but the street was fully reopened at around 8am.
While members of the fire service remain at the scene, the fire has been safely brought under control and there are no reports of injuries in the blaze.
There are no details yet of the extent of the damage.
