Gardaí in Cork seize cocaine worth €12k in Bishopstown

AN estimated €12,000 worth of cocaine has been seized in Bishopstown.

A man was arrested and questioned following the seizure by the Cork city divisional drugs unit in Curraheen estate at 3pm yesterday.

A garda spokesman said: "During the course of the search Gardaí seized €12,000 worth of cocaine. The local Scene of Crime Unit attended where they photographed the scene and the suspected drugs. The suspected drugs will now be sent for analysis by Forensic Science Ireland."

He added: "A man, aged in his 30s, was arrested at the scene and was brought to Togher Garda Station. He was detained under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act, 1996."

He was released without charge.

A file is now being prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.
