CORK City Fire Brigade has brought a large commercial fire near the Kinsale Road Roundabout under control this afternoon.
A fire broke out shortly before 3pm at Cork Builders Providers Ltd at West Link, Togher Industrial Estate.
Six units of the Cork City Fire Brigade responded to the incident after the alarm was raised at around 2.56pm.
The fire was brought under control shortly after, according to Cork City Fire Brigade.
Dark smoke had been seen billowing in the sky over the Kinsale Road Roundabout at around 3pm and many calls were made to the fire service as a result.
Local Area Rep for Labour, Peter Horgan, was driving past the scene of the fire less than an hour ago.
He told The Echo that no flames were visible but that smoke was billowing out from the back of the yard at Cork Builders Providers Ltd.
He said fire crews appeared to get the blaze under control quite quickly as the smoke died down.
Mr Horgan added that there were no major traffic delays in the area, with only a small number of drivers rubber-necking near the site of the fire.
