The scene of the incident on Saturday.

Gardaí investigating an assault on a teenager in Carrigaline at the weekend have arrested a teenager today in connection with the incident.

He was arrested at his home and taken to Togher Garda Station where he was detained under Section 4, Criminal Justice Act, 1984. He was released this evening and a file will be prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.

The incident occurred on Saturday night in Carrigaline and videos of the attack were circulated online despite pleas not to share the footage.

In a statement tonight, gardaí said: "Two male juveniles were also interviewed after caution this afternoon, in relation to the incident and investigations are ongoing."

One teenager has already been charged in relation to the incident. He was released on bail yesterday but his case is still before the courts.
