Even a red weather warning couldn’t put a dampener on the nuptials of Cork couple Marissa Costello and Dylan Kenneally.

Marissa, from Togher, and Dylan, from the Glen, were married on November 23, 2024.

“Our wedding day was so magical yet so stressful,” the couple said of the day, recalling their fears that their guests wouldn’t make the celebrations as a result of a red rain warning that morning.

Thankfully, that wasn’t the case though, with friends and family able to join the happy couple when the warning passed.

The couple’s daughter Sophia played an important part in the special day.

Dylan and Marrissa first met at a wedding.

“Dylan was a bar man at my uncle’s wedding. A week later we matched on Tinder and are now together eight years with a beautiful six-year-old girl Sophia,” said Marissa.

Dylan proposed to Marissa in 2019 during a trip to Dublin - with a little help from their daughter.

The couple, who now live in Rathcormac, were married at the Midleton Park Hotel and afterwards held a reception for their guests at the east Cork venue.

The bride’s gown and veil were from the Moderne, her shoes were by Steve Madden and her headpiece was from Rosie & Dot.

The bride’s make-up was by Nicole Lynch, from Limerick, while Niamh O’Leary, of Faranree, looked after the bridal party. Hair was by Julie and Laura from Stylez 2 in Farranree.

The bridal party suits were from Morleys.

The couple was supported on the day by their bridal party and close family.

“My parents were there and close family like my grandad and nan, and all my aunts and uncles,” said Marissa.

“Dylan’s mom was there and his brothers and sister and close family.”

The couple also paid a special tribute to Dylan’s father, who passed away five years ago, on the day.

“I got him a beautiful medal to go on his flower for his suit, so his dad was with him throughout the whole day.”

Asked about the highlight of the wedding, Marissa said the couple did a sand ceremony with their daughter Sophia where they blended three colours of sand together.

“It was absolutely gorgeous,” she said.

The couple were thrilled to be joined by friends and family at their reception. Their wedding cake was from Tays Cakes.

The couple said their wedding day was magical but that the red weather warning led to some stress.

Their photographer was Mark Farrell.
