Wedding of the Week: A celebration of love

The couple first met on a night out in Cork and the rest, as they say, is history.

Clodagh Drake, from Cobh, and James Mealy, of Bishopstown, first met on a night out in Cork, with the couple saying their connection was immediate.

“Our story began on a random night out in Cork, but from the moment we met, it was clear there was something special,” they said.

James proposed to Clodagh at the Montenotte Hotel on their sixth anniversary.

Their wedding, which was held on New Year’s Eve, was “a celebration of our love”, the couple said.

They were married at Cobh Cathedral and were supported on the day by the ten members of their bridal party, including their closest friends and family members.

Their eldest daughter, Ria, served as a bridesmaid, and their youngest daughter, Ruby, was their flower girl.

Clodagh and James say their daughters have been their greatest joy and inspiration.

Clodagh’s wedding dress was from White Ivy in Kenmare “who made the experience unforgettable”, while the bridal party suits were from Red Church “who went above and beyond to ensure that the groom and his party looked their very best”.

Clodagh’s hair was styled by Hair by Kim, while her make-up artist was Lizzy Desmond.

Afterward, they held a reception for their guests at the Oriel House Hotel in Ballincollig.

“The venue truly exceeded expectations, with the incredible staff ensuring every detail was perfect,” the couple said.

Photographers Janusz Trzesicki and his wife Justyna “captured every breathtaking moment”.

The videography was handled by Anthony Fleming “whose work ensured that the day would live on forever in beautiful film”.

The couple said that Ruth O’Brien’s “soulful voice” added a special touch to the ceremony, and Florist4u created floral arrangements “that brought the venue to life”.

The wedding cake, described by the couple as a “stunning masterpiece”, was by Trace of Cakes.

The bridal cars were from East Cork Limousines.

The couple said their reception celebrations featured a “fantastic performance by Flog The Dog band and the soulful melodies of the sax player, followed by an unforgettable night of dancing, thanks to Roy Scully, the amazing DJ who kept the energy high all night long”.

The couple added: “Each supplier played a vital role in making our wedding a perfect reflection of our love, and our gratitude knows no bounds.”
