We all became very familiar with Personal Protective Equipment – or PPE – during the covid crisis.

It’s absolutely essential, but it does create environmental challenges as it ends up in either landfill or an incinerator… in massive quantities.

Plus, there is a report on Rathlin Island sea birds that are in danger of extinction.

Like all islands, it is under pressure from rising sea levels and coastal erosion, but these are not the only dangers to its array of endangered seabirds. They are also under threat from two killing machines – ferrets and rats. So how can this problem be solved? Introducing Woody, the dog saviour of seabirds...

Also on Heated, a report about a team of volunteers in Dublin engaged in a big-hearted act of altruism and decency. They salvage unloved, rusty old bikes and bring them back to life. To date they’ve reconditioned almost 3,000… each one gifted to Ukrainian refugees.
