A blind date led to romance blossoming for Cork couple Gerda Levajeva and Seamus Bohan.

Gerda, who is originally from Lithuania, has been living in Cork for 20 years, while her husband Seamus is from Mallow.

They first met after a mutual friend set them up on a blind date at the Market Lane, and the rest, as they say, is history.

The couple chose the scenic St Finbarr’s Oratory in Gougane Barra for their ceremony.

Seamus proposed to Gerda at Michel Jewelers on Patrick Street and bought her engagement ring there.

Gerda said she never wanted a big wedding and, after visiting St Finbarr’s Oratory in Gougane Barra, they chose the scenic church as the location for their ceremony.

“It melted my heart. The place is so beautiful there and that small church is magical,” she said.

Their ceremony was attended by their closest family members and friends.

Gerda’s bridesmaid was Olga Jaunsile and Seamus’ groomsman was Timmy Bohan.

The bride wore a Justin Alexander dress from Cinderella’s Closet.

Her make-up was by Kristina Mua make-up artist and her hair was by Dana Hairstyle, both Cork.

The groom and his groomsmen wore suits from Morleys Suits, Cork.

The beautiful flowers at the church were by Catriona Bohan.

Gerda said the ceremony was very intimate.

“Our priest, Fr Pat O’Donovan, from Dunmanway Parish, was incredible with his wedding ceremony approach,” she said.

The wedding reception was at Oriel House Hotel in Ballincollig, which Gerda said “did an incredible job” to host “our wonderful” wedding.

“I especially want to thank Tanusha Suvashini, wedding and events coordinator.

“She took care of all our queries and we did not need to worry about anything,” she said.

Andrew Foley, of Long Beach, a friend of Seamus, provided music on the day.

The day was so emotional with happiness.

“The beautiful church ceremony and the speeches from our bridesmaid, best man and my son made us cry even more.”
