“We’re both so grateful for all the love and support we’ve received starting our journey together.”
So said Sarah Anne McInerney, from Cloyne, and John Jordan, from Midleton, who were married recently.
Sarah is a teacher and John works for GE healthcare, and the couple live in Cloyne.
Their friendship as teenagers blossomed as adults. They got engaged in Cork city before Christmas, 2020, and were wed in Star of the Sea Church in Ballycotton, followed by their reception at the Maryborough Hotel and Spa.
The bride got her dress in Amore Bridal, Youghal, her shoes were Jimmy Choo. Sarah Cummins did make-up and Taylor and Jane of Hair by TayTay did the hair. The suits were from Morley’s.
Key family members in attendance were the bride’s mother, Anna, John’s father, Tony, the bride’s brother Steven, John’s brother, Damian, Sarah’s niece Leah, and sisters-in-law, Deborah and Anna. The couple’s children Everly and Bradley were also in attendance.
Recalling the special day, Sarah said: “Our son Bradley provided the entertainment throughout, even asking the priest for communion (very sincerely).
“John’s daughter Everly walked up the aisle and she looked absolutely stunning.
We were bursting with pride.
“My past pupils, Frankie Dewhurst (piano), Freddie Dewhurst and Rose O’Leary played and sang me up the aisle. It was magical.”
Good friend Miriam O’Donovan did the flowers, with Ina McCarthy flowers doing the bouquets. The wedding cake was from local business Lou Lou Cakes, the car was from East Cork Wedding Cars and Brian the driver was one of the highlights of the day.
The band were Bog the Donkey, who the couple would highly recommend. Their first dance was to I Get To Love You by Ruelle. The couple’s friend, Billiejean Sargent, of Billiejean’s RDC and school of performing arts, choreographed their first dance.
As to the most memorable thing about the day? Sarah said: “Seeing my husband when I was walking up the aisle and instantly being able to relax (I hadn’t expected to be nervous but I was).
I had eye contact with him the entire time.
"Our time in Ballymaloe Cookery School for photographs, just the two of us, was also magical. The stuff dreams are made of.
“A huge thank-you to my mother and our bridal party for all the help and support.
“The Maryborough Hotel and Spa staff were outstanding from start to finish.”
The couple also thanked photographer John Sexton, who was ‘amazing’ on the day. See
