The perfect day celebrated with family and friends marked the wedding of this couple. Katie Kinahan (nee Ryan), who grew up in Dripsey in Cork, married Daniel Kinahan, of Blackpool in Lancashire, England.
Katie had moved to London to be closer to family in 2014. In June, 2017, her family opened a hotel. Katie is currently working for a company called Empowerment Charity, in the HR department.
Daniel was born in Grange Park in Blackpool and works as a window fabricator.
The couple currently live with their son Donnacha, in Daniel’s family home in Grange Park, with his mum, dad and niece.
The couple met on Tinder on May 1, 2020.
We went on our first daily walk together on May 24, 2020, we used our daily walks to meet during lockdown.
They were engaged in July, 2021, during a visit to London to see family, in Cricklewood.
They were married on May 24, 2024, on their four year anniversary, in a civil ceremony at the Glendower Hotel, North Promendate, Lytham St Anne’s.
The bride wore a dress from Blush in Poulton, while make-up was by Christina Jackson, and hair was by Laura @ lhockings hair.
Flowers and cake were by their neighbours.
For her ‘something borrowed’, Katie had her nanny’s engagement ring and gran’s brooch.
Daniel’s suit was from a local shop called Suit Bae.
Katie said: “We were lucky enough to have both sets of parents there.”
Another special guest on the day was son Donnacha, “who was a very happy surprise and was born on February 16, 2024.”
They had lots of family and friends travel from Ireland and even further afield, from Melbourne.
The couple’s first dance was to The One by Kodaline.
As to their favourite parts of the day, Katie said: “Seeing Dan waiting at the top of the aisle with his face full of love and affection was my favourite part of the day, as well as having so many people that we love in the same room talking and laughing with each other.”
Other stand-out moments were when Katie’s uncle Donie O’Callaghan, from Ballygarvan, sang God’s Plan by Derek Ryan. Dan’s brother Anthony Kinahan read a poem out while family and friends also read some quotes from Winnie the Pooh, and Ricky O’Callaghan read an Irish blessing.
The couple had Irish dancers from Whittaker Dance Centre, they also had a singing waiter called Craig Squance.
