A couple who met in Portugal almost 10 years ago were married this summer.
Emer Murphy, from Cork, and Spencer Trigg, from the UK, are now living in Berkhamsted in England.
The couple met on May 29 in 2015 in Portugal.
Emer recalled: “I relocated to the UK after a year together.
“Our boys were born in 2018. We got engaged in Pompeii on a trip of a lifetime to the Amalfi Coast to celebrate my 40th.”
The couple got married on May 29, 2024, on their nine-year anniversary.
The bride said: “After much consideration, we decided on the beautiful Castlemartyr Resort for our wedding.
The grounds and the Manor House as well as the ballroom are just magnificent.
“We had people fly in from the UK, Dubai, and a lot of locals from Cork.”
They had a civil ceremony in the beautiful grounds, with the fountain as the focal point and views of the castle also.
Emer said: “I walked down the aisle with my twin sons Jude and Hugo to my mum’s favourite song , Something’s Got A Hold Of My Heart, by Gene Pitney. Mum passed away 10 years ago this year so was very emotional.”
Emer added: “My dad has limited mobility so when I got to the top of the aisle with my sons, dad took over and gave me away to Spencer.”
The bride got her dress in the White and Gold in Kinsale, it was by designer Alexandra Grecco and shoes were Jimmy Choo.
Emer wore pearl earrings, which were her ‘something borrowed’ from her mother-in-law Her veil was borrowed from her sister-in-law, while her ‘something blue’ was her flowers by the amazing Maura from Petals.
Hair was by Cathyanne Bridal while make up was by Lizzy Desmond.
Spencer’s suit was designed by himself and tailor-made by William Young in the UK.
Bridesmaid dresses were Needle and Thread. The bridesmaids were Emer’s two sisters and her niece. The couple’s sons were page boys. Emer’s four nieces were flower girls.
Spencer had five groomsmen - two of whom are his brothers and were best men.
The singer for the ceremony was Deborah Murphy, who also performed at their drinks reception.
The band were The Riff Shop “who tore the roof off! Amazing!”
The couple’s first dance was to My Head Is A Jungle, the MK remix, one of their favourite songs.
Photographers were Ray and Irene Terry, while Gordon from WedFilms did the video.
