This couple tied the knot 10 years to the day after they met, on June 1, 2024.

Emma McGuire, from Lotamore, and Robert Duggan, from Corofin in Galway, now live in Fermoy with their two children, Bobby, aged seven, and Harlow, aged four.

Emma recalls: “We met on June 1, 2014. I worked for a cosmetic surgery clinic at the time and travelled to Galway once or twice a month to do clinics, not realising Rob worked right next door.

“We actually met through a comment about cars on Facebook (both my brother and Rob were big into the drifting and rallying). We started talking and the rest is history.

We like to see it as fate that we were a stone’s throw from each other and did not even know, so it was like we were meant to meet!

Rob proposed in Santorini in September, 2015.

The couple had an intimate wedding, as they wanted to keep it calm and peaceful and soak it all up and enjoy every moment.

The couple were married and enjoyed their wedding reception at the Seachurch in Ballycotton, East Cork.

Marian Dooley, Celebrant, married them at The Seachurch, in Ballycotton.

Emma said: “We had the whole day and night in the church, which was so special. I did a meal with one long banquet-style table and it was perfect.”

Photographer was Paul O’Connor of Candid Dreamers who took the couple up the Ballycotton cliffs for pictures.

The boys’ boutonnières were from Meadow Bunch on Instagram, and music was by DJ Aaron Stanton.

Emma said: “I included a ‘Quaich ritual’ into our ceremony as my dad’s father, who passed 15 years ago, was from Glasgow, so I got a Quaich cup and Scotch whiskey and got my Godparents to pass it to everyone to take a sup. It was a nice way to add in the Scottish family name and remember my grandad Bill McGuire.

“It was lovely having my grandparents there to witness the wedding as my nan Joan was 90 a few weeks before and my other Nan Josie was 80 and I was the first grandchild on both sides, it was very special for them.”

The couple were married by the seaside in East Cork.
