Rob Murphy, of West Cork, is looking for romance in Love In The Country.

WE live in a world where dating apps are the main source of relationships, but these tend to work better in town and city locations.

How easy is it to find love in the modern world in the Irish countryside?

A new series hosted by Cork camogie legend Anna Geary aims to answer that question.

In Love In The Country, which starts on RTÉ2 on Monday at 9.30pm, Anna follows six rural singletons looking for love, including Rob Murphy, 32, a pharmacist and part time farmer from West Cork.

However, in the first episode, the first singleton is 20-year-old student and sheep farmer, Alanagh Loftus, from Roscommon.

She says she can’t find anyone to go out with locally, as everyone knows everyone too well, and you can’t get away with anything.

She and Anna sit down in her home and go through the stack of letters sent by potential suitors from around the country.

Farmers Alanagh Loftus, of Roscommon, also features in the TV show.

After choosing who she wants to meet, Alanagh travels up to Dublin for a round of speed dates, then picks three guys to bring back to Roscommon to meet her family and experience her life.

Later in the series, when Anna meets Corkman Rob, she finds he receives so many letters from potential dates, she reckons they need a bigger postbag!

After his speed dating session, Rob picks rower Aisling Hayes, teacher Avril Smyth and herbalist Lucia Byrne to get to know better and they pack their bags for West Cork and a weekend on the farm.

Living and working in the country, the single hopefuls in the series say it’s tough to find anyone to go out with, never mind someone to settle down with!

They are ready to bear their souls, and open their homes, in some of the most remote and romantic parts of the country as they set out to find people willing to give country living a try.

Spurring them on is Anna, who is originally from Milford and has carved out a career in TV since retiring from camogie.

She takes the bull by the horns in helping the candidates find the perfect partner.

Anna grew up on a farm, and knows the pitfalls of a busy country life, with not enough hours in the day for working, never mind finding time to look for love.

These singletons need a little leg up over various obstacles in their search for love in the country. And she’s just the woman to give them the push!

But will their companions be willing to drop everything for a new life, and love, in the country?
