Name: Sara Donovan

Age: 20

Where are you from: Crosshaven, Cork.

What are you studying; Public Health Sciences.

Why did you enter UCCNTM: I’ve never really done anything like this and when opportunities like this came up before I was always too awkward so I never bothered. But now I don’t take myself too seriously any more and said I would just give it a go. Why not? I enjoy pushing myself and venturing out of my own comfort zone a bit more these days.

Tell us something interesting about you: I love travelling, I used to live in South America in Cusco, Peru, when I was younger, I’ve also been to parts of Africa like Ethiopia because that is where my mom is originally from.

I love animals and would consider myself quite an environmentally conscious person as I am a vegan.

I am quite a competitive person and I used to play a lot of team sport, especially basketball and soccer, but unfortunately, as I got older, there wasn’t enough commitment to keep the teams going I used to play on so now I enjoy going to the gym instead. Even though I do miss the idea of being part of a team, I still enjoy pushing myself and improving myself as an individual also.

What are you studying: Digital Humanities and Information Technology.

Why did you enter UCCNTM: I entered UCCNTM because this is my final year and I wanted to do something completely out of my comfort zone before I finish my degree and go out with a bang!

I’ve always had an interest in modelling, I have done some in the past but I decided to focus on my studies instead.

This was a great opportunity to see if this is something I wanted to continue with on a more professional level. It’s fun, exciting and inspiring!

Tell us something interesting about you: Other than being 6ft 2in, I am usually the one behind the camera.

I have an interest in photography myself as I am events officer in UCC Photography Society, so I get many opportunities to take photographs and learn more about photography.

It has helped me expand my portfolio that do not comprise pictures of my dog, although I still take many photos of her. I have mostly an interest in pet (pets in nature), food and drink photography. I’d love to expand into fashion once final year is over.
