Cork male therapist blazes a trail in skincare

Eoin O’Sullivan is a beauty specialist, holistic therapist and make-up artist at Fota Island Spa
Despite having had an interest in the beauty industry from a young age, it wasn’t until I was older that I had the confidence to pursue a career in it.
Beginning my career in the makeup industry, I first worked as a makeup artist and it was here that I discovered my love for skincare, an interest which further developed into a desire to pursue a career in holistics.
I have been lucky enough to train with amazing colleges here in Cork and have gone on to become the first male therapist in Ireland to represent the luxury spa and wellness brand, Kerstin Florian, at the award-winning spa at Fota Island Resort.
I was born in the Cork Erinville Maternity Hospital.
I am currently living in my home town of Cobh.
I come from a family of five and I am the eldest of the three children.
I’m lucky enough to have two best friends in my life. Laura and Simone have always been a great support to me.
My earliest childhood memory is spending my day driving my black toy tractor around the back garden of my home.
I couldn’t pick just one person, however, anyone who chooses to live an authentic life despite social pressures deserves my respect and admiration.
A person who irritates me is someone who always sees the glass half empty and only focuses on the negative.
My most memorable childhood holiday has to be one of the trips that I took to Kerry with my family as a child.
During the summer, my family would rent holiday homes next to each other and my siblings and I would spend hours playing with our cousins outside. In the evenings, we would try and squeeze in around our tiny portable TV and video player — safe to say this was before Wi-Fi.
I am lucky enough to have been taught how to cook by my Auntie Mags and she helped me master two dishes which I love to cook — Lasagne and Shepherd’s Pie.
Hands down my favourite restaurant is Scoozi’s in Cork city, it’s always my top pick for a special occasion. I highly recommend the Genoa Pollo, it’s delicious.
My favourite book was anything from the
series by Lauren St John.I love Sam Smith’s acoustic version of Latch.
I would love to see Sam Smith or Adele in concert, they are some of my favourite musicians.
Yes, I am the very proud owner of my little terrier mix called Brody, I love coming home to him at the end of the day.
I am definitely not a morning person, I prefer to wake up naturally without any alarms!
It has to be when I was announced as the first male therapist in Ireland to represent Kerstin Florian.
I used to be a terrible spendthrift, I couldn’t be left in Brown Thomas beauty department unattended.
These days, I’m more of a saver, although I do allow myself the occasional splurge.
I wish we could have more services available to those who are struggling with their mental health.
It’s important that we are supportive of those suffering in order to take away the stigma surrounding mental health issues.
Thinking about everything that I have achieved, that I am now an employed professional therapist using the skills that I worked so hard to achieve.
I would like to be remembered as a positive, driven and determined individual, always working towards achieving my goals.
I am currently working as a therapist in the award-winning spa at Fota Island Resort.
I am continuing my education part time as I develop my knowledge and skill base, pushing myself to the next level.
