TV series celebrates the life of another great Cork woman

REMARKABLE LIFE: Mother Jones was born in Cork
CORKONIANS will need no introduction to Mother Jones — the firebrand once dubbed “the most dangerous woman in America”.
The Cork-born activist and union leader is profiled in the next episode of the RTÉ1 series Herstory tonight, Monday, February 24, at 8.30pm.
Born Mary Harris Jones in 1837, she founded the Social Democratic Party, led a children’s march on President Roosevelt’s home against child labour conditions, and helped establish the Industrial Workers of the World.
Among the contributors to the episode are Dr Mary McAuliffe of UCD gender studies unit.
