The IRFU look set to face competition to retain Andy Farrell as head coach beyond next year's World Cup.

According to a report in The Irish Independent, Saracens will offer the Ireland boss a €1.2 million a season deal to become their head coach after the tournament.

Farrell enjoyed a spell at Saracens as a player, and his son Owen has won two Champions Cups at the London club.

The Ireland head coach's contract expires after the 2027 Rugby World Cup in Australia.

Since taking over from Joe Schmidt, Farrell has won two Six Nations titles, including the Grand Slam in 2023, and Triple Crowns in 2022 and 2025.

Ireland also won a series away to New Zealand and a test in South Africa, to draw the series in July 2024.

Saracens want Farrell to be the long-term successor to Mark McCall, who stands down at the end of the season and will be replaced by their technical adviser.
