Republic of Ireland striker Evan Ferguson will miss tomorrow's crucial World Cup qualifier against Hungary.

An ankle injury kept him out of Thursday's 2-0 win over Portugal - and he hasn't recovered in time to fly out to Budapest with the squad.

Heimir Hallgrimsson's side must win tomorrow to keep their hopes of qualifying alive.

The absence of the Roma striker (on loan from Brighton) is certainly a blow to Hallgrimsson's side. However, Troy Parrott's brace against Portugal is encouraging and he is likely to start again alongside Chiedozie Ogbene in the forward line.

A victory over Hungary will mean a play-off for Ireland.
