Piers Morgan has let his strong feelings about Cristiano Ronaldo be known many times on social media and the broadcaster has now taken aim at Ireland defender Dara O'Shea over the Portuguese captain's red card in Dublin.

Ronaldo was sent off following a VAR review after a blatant elbow on O'Shea, as he lashed out in frustration with Portugal trailing 2-0 in Thursday's World Cup qualifier.

Morgan has a friendship with Ronaldo an has interviewed him on a few occasions, most notably the 2022 interview which spelled the end of the 40-year-old's second spell at Manchester United.

Referring to another clash between O'Shea and Ronaldo during a game in Lisbon, Morgan wrote: "Well well well.. it seems Dara O’Shea has form for deliberately provoking Ronaldo in World Cup Qualifiers, then diving like an Olympic swimmer to try to get him sent off. Here’s what he did to @cristiano when Ireland played Portugal in 2021.."

Morgan's outburst is unlikely to bother Heimir Hallgrímsson's side as they prepare for the crunch qualifier against Hungary in Budapest on Sunday.
