GAA: Donegal stun Derry in Ulster quarter-final

In the battle between Mickey Harte and Jim McGuinness, Donegal got the better of Derry in a 4-11 to 0-17 win at Celtic Park.

Donegal's counter-attack and long kick outs gave Derry trouble all game, with Dáire Ó Baoill scoring the opening goal in the 19th minute, as Donegal took a 1-7 to 0-9 lead into the break.

Donegal had their second goal just two minutes into the second half, when Ó Baoill lobbed Derry goalkeeper Oran Lynch.

They had their third goal nine minutes later, when Oisin Gallen scored from the penalty spot.

Derry closed the gap back to four points at one stage, but they were hit on the break once again as Jamie Brennan secured the win with their fourth goal.

Donegal will now play the winners of Tyrone v Cavan.

Kerry were made to work for victory as they defeated rivals Cork 0-18 to 1-12 in the Munster semi-final in Killarney.

Paul Walsh got Cork off to a flying start as his goal gave them a 1-1 to 0-0 lead after just three minutes.

Kerry were able to gain composure in an entertaining first half, with scores from Sean O'Shea and David Clifford keeping Kerry in touch.

It was Cork who took the lead into the interval, with Brian Hurley's kicking crucial for the rebels.

While Cork never gave up, Kerry found momentum in the second half and took the lead for the first time through David Clifford in the 50th minute.

They kept the scoreboard ticking and ran out as three-point winners to reach another provincial final.

They will face Clare, after their 2-20 to 1-8 win over Waterford.

In Connacht, Galway were given an almighty scare when they scraped past Sligo in a 1-13 to 0-14 win.

Sligo started the faster of the two sides and were 0-5 to 0-1 up in the first half.

Patrick O'Connor impressed for Sligo, as they were 0-9 to 0-6 up at the break.

Sligo kept the scoreboard ticking, and looked certain to cause a huge shock, until Robert Finnerty scored a goal in injury time to give Galway a dramatic victory and reach the Connacht final.
