Billionaire Mark Zuckerberg and his wife Priscilla Chan are “excited” to care for Strancally Castle in Co Waterford after buying the property, a spokesman has said.
The Meta chief executive bought the three-storey Gothic-style house from the Alen-Buckley family in recent weeks.
It is not known how much Zuckerberg paid for the property, which has been extensively renovated over the last 20 years.
In a statement, a spokesman for Mr Zuckerberg confirmed that he has purchased the property.
“Mark and his family are excited to continue caring for this historic home and look forward to spending time in Ireland, where Meta maintains its international headquarters,” the spokesman said.

Meta has its international headquarters in Dublin.
Its Ireland operations include approximately 1,500 employees across 80 teams in three locations.
Meta has offices in Dublin, Reality Labs located in Cork, and a data centre in Clonee, Co Meath.
Zuckerberg and his family will continue to live in the United States and use the home when carrying out Meta business in Ireland.
It was reported last summer the couple were interested in buying a property in Ireland by the media in the US.
The Wall Street Journal quoted American businessman John Malone saying that Mr Zuckerberg was interested in buying Castlemartin in Co Kildare from him.
