A woman in her 80s has been seriously injured after a crash involving her bicycle and a truck.

It happened on the Rathangan Road near Monasterevin in Kildare shortly before 10am.

The cyclist was taken to the Mater Hospital for treatment, no other injuries have been reported.

Investigating gardaí have closed the road for technical examinations to take place.

Officers are asking anyone with information from the area locally known as the "Cow Pastures" to come forward.
