A man in his 20s has died in a crash in Co Kerry.

It occurred on the N72 near Calfmount, Barraduff, at around 2.20am on Wednesday and involved a car.

The driver of the car was pronounced dead at the scene.

His body has been removed to the mortuary at University Hospital Kerry, where a post-mortem will take place.

The coroner has been notified, and the road is currently closed pending forensic examination, with local diversions in place.

Motorists travelling between Rathmore and Killarney are asked to travel via Glenfesk.

Gardaí have appealed to anyone who witnessed the collision to come forward.

Road users who may have camera footage, including dash cam, and were travelling on the N72 near Calfmount, Barraduff, Co Kerry, on Wednesday between 1.45am and 2.20am have been asked to make their footage available to investigating gardaí.
