Noah Donohoe inquest in ‘final stages’

An inquest into the death of Noah Donohoe is in the “final stages”, a jury has been told, following the conclusion of evidence.
Noah, a pupil at St Malachy’s College, was 14 when his naked body was found in the storm drain tunnel in north Belfast in June 2020, six days after he left home on his bike to meet two friends in the Cavehill area of the city.
The inquest into his death began in January.
On Monday morning, the jury was told the proceedings were in the “final stages” by coroner Justice Rooney as they were released for the day.
It came after counsel to the coroner Peter Coll read out an agreed position relating to the measurements and dimensions of an 11-bar security grill on the culvert.
He said this “concludes the evidence” they were likely to hear.
However, the jury heard there were still some legal issues to be determined but they could be released and held on “standby” to return on Tuesday or Wednesday.
