Revenue officers have seized herbal cannabis worth over €500,000 at Shannon Airport.

Detector dog Brody helped staff seize about 25 kilograms of the drug.

It was found in a shipment which had come from the US and was due for delivery to an address in the mid-west of Ireland.

This seizure is part of Revenue’s ongoing operations targeting organised crime groups and the importation, sale and supply of illegal drugs.

Revenue is encouraging businesses, or members of the public, who may have any information regarding smuggling, to contact them in confidence on 1800 295 295.
