A major signal fault on the train network, including Dart services, has been fixed.

However, significant delays remain across the suburban network as services get back to normal.

Internal Communications Manager for Iarnród Éireann, John Larson, explained what happened to Newstalk.

"Around 8:40 this morning, we had a signalling system fault that disrupted operations that impacted Dart, Phoenix Tunnel, and the Northern Commuter lines," he said.

"We were able to clear that at around 9:10 this morning, which obviously impacted the services on those routes and the ability to recover from those quickly became a priority from that point."
