A woman has died, and two others have been seriously injured in a crash in Co Clare, Gardaí have said.

The incident, which involved two cars, happened on the R352 near Tulla at around 3.30pm on Monday.

A woman in her 80s, who was a passenger in one of the cars, was taken to University Hospital Limerick with serious injuries.

She died on Tuesday morning.

The drivers of the cars, both women in their 50s, were taken to the same hospital with serious injuries.

Investigators carried out a forensic examination of the scene, and the road has since reopened.

Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to come forward and say a family liaison officer has been appointed to the pensioner’s family.
