Manchester United 'in talks' over Dublin friendly

Manchester United are looking at a European pre-season tour rather than the club's usual far-flung desintations and Dublin is reportedly on the shortlist for a friendly.

The Manchester Evening News reports that potential venues include Gothenburg, Helsinki, Oslo and Warsaw.

The report adds that Dublin is very likely to be included, and that the Aviva Stadium has been chosen over a fixture in Scotland.

While European friendlies will be less commercially successful than a pre-season tour in Asia or the United States, United chiefs are said to believe it will bring better preparation for the new season, especially given the fact there is a World Cup this summer.

United's last friendly in Dublin was a 1-1 draw with Athletic Bilbao in 2023.
