Three teenagers have been arrested following a pursuit by gardaí on the M1 in the early hours of Monday.

Shortly after 4:30 am, a car with three occupants failed to stop for gardaí in the Whitehall area of Dublin 9.

A lengthy managed containment operation commenced, and the car was successfully intercepted in County Louth shortly after 5:30 am.

Three teenage boys were arrested under the Road Traffic Acts and brought to a Garda Station in the Dublin Region.

Traffic on the M1 motorway was affected for a time but has since fully reopened.

There were no injuries reported. Gardaí say investigations are ongoing.
