US President Donald Trump's plane has left Shannon Airport after a quick pitstop, it is reported.

Newstalk reported that Donald Trump did not get off the plane, which crossed into Irish airspace at around 6pm, accompanied by another Air Force 757.

Earlier, there was a heightened security presence at the airport, which is operating as normal, while a small number of protesters stood on a roundabout close to the airport, according to Newstalk.

Trump gave an address to world leaders at Davos on Wednesday - a speech which began by critiquing Europe, saying it is "not heading in the right direction."

The US President’s flight was the most followed on the Flight Radar 24 app on Thursday evening.
