A trial date has been fixed for a 31-year-old man who is charged with a triple murder at his family home in Co Louth last year.

Robert O'Connor (31), of Drumgowna, Co Louth, is charged with the murder of his mother, Louise Doherty O'Connor, his father Mark O'Connor and his brother Evan O'Connor at Drumgowna on September 29th last year.

At the Central Criminal Court on Thursday morning, defence counsel, Michael Bowman SC, said there is a “psychiatric dimension” to the case.

Mr Justice Paul McDermott listed the matter for trial on October 5th next and case management on February 18th, with the accused remanded in custody.
