Temperatures are plummeting further, as Met Éireann has issued yellow snow and ice warnings.

The forecaster said temperatures will be dropping to -5 degrees, with treacherous travel conditions and the possibility of black ice.

Connacht, Cavan, Donegal, Monaghan and Louth will be under a yellow snow and ice warning from 8.22am on Sunday until 11am on Monday. Met Éireann warns of poor visibility and hazardous travel conditions.

A yellow low-temperature and ice warning has also been issued for Carlow, Dublin, Kildare, Kilkenny, Laois, Longford, Meath, Offaly, Westmeath, Wexford, Wicklow, and Munster. This is in place from 5pm on Sunday until 11am on Monday.

Temperatures are forecast to fall to between -2 and -5 degrees, with sharp or severe frost, icy stretches and black ice likely, particularly overnight and in the early morning.

In Northern Ireland, the yellow snow and ice warning for all counties will remain in place until 12pm on Monday.
