Weather warnings are in place across the island of Ireland because of snow and ice.

Met Éireann is warning of travel disruption on Saturday and into Sunday, with temperatures falling to between -2C and -4C in many areas and sharp or severe frost and icy stretches.

A Status Yellow low temperature and ice warning has been issued for counties Carlow, Dublin, Kildare, Kilkenny, Laois, Longford, Meath, Offaly, Westmeath, Wexford and Wicklow.

In Northern Ireland, the UK Met Office has also put yellow warnings in place for snow and ice with a minimum temperature of -3C on Saturday night.

A number of Northern Ireland Football League matches have been cancelled because of weather conditions including Ballymena United v Glenavon and Portadown v Cliftonville.
