Passengers at Dublin Airport bought the equivalent weight of a humpback whale in Toblerone this year - or 43 tonnes - according to figures released on Wednesday by airport operator DAA.

The stats also showed that the airport sold more than 1.2 million pints of Guinness, and nearly 3 million cups of tea and coffee during the year.

The top-selling crisp this year was Ireland's old favourite, Tayto, with more than 550,000 packets sold.

Passengers also ate an Irish breakfast every 50 seconds on average.

Spirit sales were strong, with 409,000 litres of Irish whiskey sold and 133,000 litres of vodka.

The year has seen more than 35 million passengers passing through the airport on around 240,000 flights, with the final figures for 2025 published in January.

Passengers this year checked in a total of 9 million suitcases, weighing more than 127,000 tonnes, which is the equivalent of 21,000 male African elephants.

The most popular passenger names in the year were John and Mary, with enough Johns and Marys to fill 1,096 and 603 Boeing 737 planes respectively.

Dublin Airport Police also responded to 15,500 incidents at the airport, and over 3,100 medical incidents. Nearly 2000 fixed penalty notices were handed out to drivers who stayed too long outside the terminals.

Graeme McQueen, Head of Media Relations at the DAA said: "2025 has been a record year at Dublin Airport.

“This year has seen the introduction of new lounges, the extension of our Drop & Go parking product to Terminal 1 and the rollout of many new food and drink outlets in both terminals.

"This year also saw us complete the rollout of new C3 scanners in both terminals, which enabled us to remove the old 100ml liquid limit."
