Thousands of euro of damage has been caused following a random attack on cars in Co Donegal.

The owners of six cars at an apartment block in Letterkenny are counting the cost after their front and back windscreens were smashed in the run-up to Christmas.

The mindless attacks took place in a car park at the Nas Mór Apartment block in Carnamuggagh Upper, at approximately 12.30 am in the early hours of Sunday morning.

Gardaí suspect that just one man was behind all six attacks.

Gardai have harvested CCTV footage from the area in a bid to identify the attacker.

They have issued a description of the man they wish to speak to.

“We are particularly interested in hearing about any sightings or dash-cam footage of a male on foot in the area who was wearing ¾ length grey shorts, a green t-shirt and a black bodywarmer,” Garda Grainne Doherty said.

“We appeal to anyone who may have travelled in that area or in the area of Gleann Tain Manor between midnight and 1am with a dash-cam to make the footage available to us”.

Any relevant information should be passed on to gardaí in Letterkenny on 074-9167100 or via the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111.
