A man has been arrested after another man was allegedly assaulted in Dublin City centre in the early hours of Tuesday.

The incident happened on South Great Georges Street shortly after 12:30 am.

A man in his 20s was arrested at the scene and is being held at a Garda station in Dublin.

A man aged in his 50s was conveyed to St James’s Hospital for treatment of injuries believed to be non-life threatening at the time.

Gardaí say investigations are ongoing.
