A man in his 40s has died after a single-vehicle collision in Birdhill, Tipperary, in the early hours of Sunday morning.

The man, who was the sole occupant of the car, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The Coroner was notified, and the deceased has been removed to the mortuary at University Hospital Limerick, where a post-mortem examination will take place in due course.

The road remains closed at the scene, which is preserved pending a technical examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators.

Traffic diversions are in place.

Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed this collision to contact them.

Any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were traveling on the R445 at Birdhill, Tipperary between 10pm on Saturday night and 8am Sunday morning are asked to make this footage available to investigating gardaí.
