Luas services to the Docklands area of Dublin are not operating after a large fire broke out on a bridge on Tuesday night.
Firefighters brought the blaze at George’s Dock Bridge under control by 11.30pm.
Four fire engines, a foam tender and a water tanker attended the scene as part of the multi-agency response.
Gas Networks Ireland said it assisted fire services on Tuesday night, but that the cause of the fire was not yet known.
Luas Red Line services are not operating from Busaras to The Point while the damage is being assessed.
Commuters on one red line service on Wednesday morning were told trams to the Docklands area would not be operating “for the foreseeable”.
“This is due to a fire yesterday in George’s Dock,” Luas said in a statement posted to X.
“We envisage this change to service may last a period of time as we wait for information in relation to the fire damage in the area and clearance in relation to the bridge, Luas infrastructure including overhead power lines.”
Meanwhile, an investigation is currently underway to determine what caused the blaze, which broke out at around 6pm under a bridge at George's Dock.
The fire reached temperatures of 1,000 degrees, and power was lost in numerous buildings in the area, but nobody was injured.

Lord Mayor of Dublin Ray McAdam spoke to Newstalk after seeing the area and assessing the damage.
"There was a gas leak, and it took them a while in order to one identify where the leak was, to crimp it, and then to let effectively to let the gas burn out, but the important thing to reassure Dubliners is that the fire is now completely out," he said.
"What will now take place is there will be a number of assessments carried out by Dublin City Council, Dublin Fire Brigade, as well as some of the transport providers to assess the damage done to the bridge."
