Firefighters are battling a major blaze at George's Dock in Dublin city centre.

Four fire engines and gardaí are present at the scene near the IFSC, with strong flames appearing to come from the underside of a bridge.

Dublin Fire Brigade said it was taking water from the River Liffey in order to tackle the blaze.

A Gas Networks Ireland crew is on site assisting fire services. It is not known at this stage if the cause of the fire is gas-related, though footage appeared to show blue-green flames in parts.

About 2,000 power outages have also been reported in the area.

Luas red line services are currently stopping at Connolly Station as emergency services deal with the blaze. Tickets are valid on Dublin Bus for the duration of the disturbance.

The public is being asked to avoid Harbourmaster Place until further notice.
