There were 280 crashes and near misses involving ambulances over a two-year period.

The figures for 2023 and 2024 from the National Ambulance Service included a masked person on a scrambler, weaving through traffic, hitting an ambulance and driving off without stopping, according to the Herald.

Ambulances have been damaged by deer and even a flock of racing pigeons in recent years.

One of the more bizarre incidents saw an ambulance damaged after a flock of racing pigeons was released from a trailer on a motorway ramp.

The log of incidents from 2023 and 2024 shows, in some cases ,the emergency vehicles could not stop because they were responding to urgent calls or transporting seriously ill patients.
