Garda investigation underway following suspected arson attack in Ennis

Gardaí in Clare are investigating a suspected arson attack which resulted in two vehicles being destroyed while a house also suffered extensive damage.

Emergency services were alerted to the incident at Pearse Avenue in Ennis in the early hours of the morning. It was reported that two cars were on fire in the driveway of a house.

Units of Clare County Fire and Rescue Service from Ennis station rushed to the scene along with gardaí and National Ambulance Service paramedics.

On arrival, fire crews found two cars ‘well alight’ in the driveway of a residential property. The front of the building and part of the ground floor also sustained fire damage.

Fire crews brought the blaze under control, preventing further damage being caused to the house however both vehicles were destroyed.

A Garda spokesperson confirmed: “Gardaí responded to an incident of criminal damage by fire that occurred in the early hours of Saturday 8th March 2025, at a residential location in Ennis, Co. Clare.

No injuries were reported at the time. Investigations are ongoing.”
