Motorcyclist killed in single-vehicle collision in Co Wexford

A male motorcyclist has died in a crash in Co Wexford.

The man, in his 50s, was fatally injured in the single-vehicle collision in Barntown on Saturday evening.

It occurred on the R738 at Knockeen shortly before 6.15pm.

The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene and his body was removed to the mortuary at University Hospital Waterford, where a postmortem examination will take place.

There were no other injuries reported.

The road remained closed on Saturday night pending a technical examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators on Sunday.

Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to the collision to come forward.
