A man in his 20s was found dead in a public toilet at Fitzgerald's Park in Cork city on Friday.

The emergency services attended the park after the man was found unresponsive in a portaloo.

He was formally pronounced dead at the scene. His body was removed from the park.

A postmortem examination, which is due to be carried out at Cork University Hospital, will establish the case of death. However, the incident is not being treated as suspicious.

It is understood the man was known to groups who assist the homeless in Cork city.
