Gardaí have arrested a man in his 30s and seized a large quantity of cocaine following the interception of a vehicle in Cork on Wednesday evening.

As part of an intelligence-led national operation, gardaí stopped a car travelling southbound on the M8 motorway at Glanmire.

Following a search of the vehicle, 12kg of suspected cocaine was discovered, with an estimated street value of approximately €840,000.

The driver, a man in his 30s, was arrested at the scene and detained at a garda station in Cork city under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996.
